Survivor is about to air in Toronto, and thanks to StackTV I’ll be watching with you, Toronto area. Sol is one of my faves, and I’m sad to see him voted out, yet he left with such class. I’m glad to have “met” him. Another of my faves is Kyle, such a wholesome and decent man. It’s too bad he is a target. I think that Carolyn and Genevieve play really smart games, and I am just smitten with Teeny, she is such a cutie patootie. But the real question is…how long will Andy, Gabe and Sam continue to think that they are the only ones in charge of everyone? And will Sue EVER forgive Kyle for throwing ONE measley vote her way, way back at the beginning of the game?

Staaaay tuned!

Teeny whispers at the camera while voting for Sol: “There was nothing I could do. We didn’t have the numbers. Everything I do from now on will be to avenge you.”

Back at camp Genevieve apologizes to Teeny, says she knew they were so close. Teeny doesn’t want to be treated like an idiot. She is beginning to see that Genevieve keeps blindsiding her, that she never would have found out that Genevieve orchestrated the whole thing if Andy hadn’t told her. When they are alone, Teeny tells Genevieve that she can’t believe that Genevieve wouldn’t have included her in the plan. Genevieve doesn’t address that, she only explains why she wanted Sol out. Alone, Genevieve realizes that she hurt Teeny, that Teeny is distressed and it is entirely Genevieve’s fault. She says it doesn’t feel like a fun game anymore. The two women had an honest discussion, I’m not sure if they are ok. Teeny is frustrated that she can’t play without emotion. She doesn’t know how she will be able to fit into this game.

-opening credits-

Teeny apologizes to Rachel and Caroline for the way she was last night. They say they understand. Andy asks Genevieve how it went last night, Genevieve tells him it was a shit-show. Andy asks her what she wants to do now, she wants to target TUKU. Sam and Andy talk about who to target next. Sam says that Genevieve scares him. Andy feels like he has an in with them both, he thinks of himself as a slithering snake. Andy and Kyle talk about aligning. Andy tells him that he is loyal to the soil. Rachel asks Andy how he feels about Genevieve and he tells her that she’s a silent assasin and that she is after Rachel. Andy calls himself a smiling assasin. He is proud of the web of different alliances he has built, and he can decide who is next victim will be. He considers himself a lethal player in this game. I think we all know that this type of play will either take him far, or people will start to talk with each other about him and see that he is playing them all., like what happened with Rome.

Reward Challenge. Randomly divided in to three teams of three. Hands are tied to waist. Ankles are tied together. One at a time, players slither through the sand as they move a ball with your head over a few sandy hills. All three players finish and one at a time each player rolls a ball to the finish. The winning team will head to the sanctuary where good things happen and they will eat grapes, cheese, rice, berries, pommegranate, kiwi, soybeans, greens, orange juice, wraps, cookies and cream cake for dessert.

  • Yellow: Genevieve, Sue, Teeny
  • Red: Andy, Caroline, Gabe
  • Blue: Sam, Rachel, Kyle

Kyle breaks out way ahead, all are commenting on how Kyle does it so they can follow his example. There is a slow mo close up of Andy opening his mouth wide and using his tongue and lower teeth to move the ball. Blue has a big lead over the other two teams. Blue finishes and Rachel will go first to roll her large ball into the hole at the end of a smooth track. Rachel misses twice, but keeps trying. Rachel gets it in. Now Kyle goes. He misses the first and second roll. Gabe is whipping through the course, faster than anyone else. Now red is heading to the end part of the challenge. Sam is up and with one toss he lands the third ball. Red never got to throw a ball, Teeny is still slithering through the sand for yellow.

Blue heads to the santuary the other six players head back to camp with nothing.

At the sanctuary, while feasting on healthy food and drink, Sam, Kyle and Rachel talk about strategy. Kyle says that Gabe is a threat to himself. Sam admits that people are targetting TUKU and Kyle says, “Well then maybe it is time for me to jump ship.” Sam suggests that if they can’t get Gabe out, they should get Genevieve. Rachel is not saying much, and they don’t seem interested in what she thinks – She wants Genevieve out. Sam and Rachel talk alone. She calls him on outing her with Sol last night. Sam wants a TUKU out first, then Genevieve. Rachel feels like every opportunity she gives him to not lie to her, he still lies to her. She isn’t sure she trusts him.

Back at camp, Andy approaches Sue about sitting at the end with her. She agrees with him and says lets do it. Sue is talking about how she wants to kill Kyle. She hates that he is a poor guy, a dad, broke, he wrote her name down. She hates him. Andy tells her that Kyle calls her and Caroline Tweedle dee and Tweedle dum. I’ve never heard him say that, and I’ve never heard him complain about his life circumstances, but then again, I’m not living on that beach with all of them. Everyone at camp is targetting Kyle.

The fed return to the hungry. Sam wants to reach out to other outcasts. He tells Andy and Teeny that he wants to get Gabe. They nod with him. Sam tells Teeny that there is a lot of people trying to find footing in the game, why don’t we find footing together? Teeny eats it up. Yet, she doesn’t want to be too trusting because she acknowledges that her attachment to people in the came have been a kryptonite for her.

At night over the campfire most are playing a happy guessing game, but Teeny is having a Survivor low. She realizes that she is devastated that Genevieve did not trust her as Teeny trusted G. It forces her to face some life insecuities, some of her own inner world issues. She feels really alone in the game and in the world right now. Teeny’s bag started burning in the fire, it now has a huge hole in the side of it. She feels that it illustrates how she feels right now. She thinks now that it is a sign of a new life in this game for her.

Individual immunity challenge. Balance a ball on a wooden disk, at regular intervals more balls will be added, while balancing their bodies on a tiny little ledge. There is a bag of rice for a rice negotiation. He needs 4 people to sit out in exchange for rice. Side note: why is Sue’s face so much dirtier than anyone elses face? It is suggested that everyone gives up their shot in the dark. Most agree to give it up for rice, Sam isn’t sure he can give it up. Gabe tries to persuade him, so Sam agrees to give his up too. Jeff decides to make that deal. They have rice! Gabe is relieved that there are no more shots in the dark in the game.

Everyone is up on their little perches, balancing one little ball on the wooden disc. The disk is about a foot in diameter and there seems to be no divot in there to hold a ball still. It’s getting windy, making it more difficult. Everyone makes it through the first stage and is grabbing the second ball to balance. Each player will have two balls to balance on their little discs. Ten minutes in this round. Caroline drops. The wind picks up again. Andy drops. Another gust of wind. Rachel drops. Genevieve drops. Rachel feels stupid, cuz she felt this was her challenge to win. Gabe drops. The round ends. The remaining players take a rest, grab their third ball and prepare to start again. Teeny, Sue, Kyle and Sam. Teeny drops. Sam looks the steadiest of the three. The wind whips up again. Sam drops. Sue almost touched it with her second hand, I’m not sure if she actually steadied it quickly or not. Sue drops. Kyle wins again!! I’m so glad! I’ll take his sweetness over Sue’s hatred of him any day. (It’s not a good look, Sue.)

Sue is angry that Kyle saved himself, she has been trying to get him out for so long.

Day 18 at BEKA, an afternoon of planning and plotting and strategizing. Sam regrets giving up his shot in the dark for rice, but he says he feels cautiously optimistic. Sam sees Gabe as the leader of TUKU. Teeny would love to get Genevieve out instead, but she knows that the timing is not right for Genevieve, it’s time for Gabe. Gabe wants Genevieve out and is talking that move up. Gabe feels pretty confident in this game, and he says after getting Genevieve out tonight, there will be 4 TUKU’s left in the game, which is a clear majority. Gabe crows at Caroline that it will be her, him and Sue in the final 3. Caroline likes working with Gabe, but she is starting to think that she needs to get out from under him, and that he is more popular than she is for the end. Caroline approaches Andy and then Teeny to suggest voting out Gabe. However, she knows that it could destroy her alliance with Sue. Rachel would rather do Genevieve first.

They cook up a large amount of rice. As soon as Genevieve ate her rice she realized that she wants her shot in the dark back. She knows that it is going to be her or Gabe tonight. Gabe asks Kyle what it’s going to be, and Kyle says it’s going to be you or Genevieve. That’s the first Gabe heard it, so now he is talking for himself with others. Genevieve noticed that no one is talking to her today, and she figures that is because she will not be here tomorrow.

They make their way to tribal. Gabe says that if they don’t vote him out tonight, then the game is in his hands.

Tribal Council. There’s a storm brewing! Thunder crashes and the players become soaked in the rain. After the soggy players are seated, Sol and Sierra join them, and Teeny clearly believes that Sol looks amazing, naked under his dress vest. My husband and I agree, Sol looks AMAZING! Rachel and Genevieve cannot see through their glasses cuz they are covered in raindrops. Take them off, ladies! Sheesh! If your glasses are too dirty to see through, you might see a little better without them! Sue still has the dirtiest face. They talk for a while about what the loss of the shot in the dark means to their games. Jeff points out that Gabe persuaded/cajoled Sam into giving up his shot in the dark. Sam explains that keeping his shot in the dark wasn’t worth keeping rice away from the community. Gabe says that they are thinking about who they want to sit beside at the end. Others say they are still targeting people who are a threat to their own games. Genevieve points out that people who were talking with her yesterday are not talking with her today. Sam says that he started to feel part of the community again today, but the last time that happened he felt really really bad immediately after. Gabe laughed loudly at that.

Time to vote. Kyle very hesitantly makes his vote.

No advantages are played, Genevieve holds a wince on her face for a long time, Jeff reads the votes: Gabe, Genevieve, Genevieve, Gabe, Gabe, Gabe, Gabe… Gabe and Kyle hug, Kyle says he loves Gabe. Gabe and Caroline hug. Love is expressed. Gabe says, “Good game, everybody.” He’s cool, he left well. Or maybe he didn’t leave well: Andy asks Kyle if Gabe called Kyle a snake and by Kyle’s expression, he might have done so. Ok. I watched this scene again in Edmonton time just now. This is what happened: when Caroline hugged him, she said, “It’s been good playing with you.” And he replied, “ya, you’ve got a little snake in you, eh?” And later, when Andy asked, “did he just call you a snake?” He was leaning in front of Kyle to ask Caroline. Kyle was seated between Andy and Caroline.

Other than the nasty way he views the women he alligned with, I’m going to miss Gabe and his pretty hair blowing in the wind. He was a good player, other than minimizing the value of the lives of the people in his alliance.
