Season 47 Episode 4.
As I sit in front of my TV, waiting for the show to air in Toronto, my thoughts are with the people and the communities and the natural world that is in the path of Hurricane Milton that should be meeting the shores the Florida right about now. I’m trying to turn my thoughts to tonight’s upcoming show, but I keep going back to what is happening there. I am someone who loves storms, but what is happening down near Florida is way beyond just a storm.
Anyways, I reel my thoughts back in towards Survivor…Will Rome’s amazing lucky streak continue? Will Kyle win over Sue and persuade her that Gabe doesn’t view her with the respect she thinks he does? Will Sierra and Sam break apart in light of the assumptions other tribes were making about them being a couple? Stay tuned!
LAVO returns to camp after voting out Aysha. Sol smiles at them that they got him. In private he says that he is disappointed that it wasn’t Rome. Teeny explains to Sol, alone, why she voted for him, she simply could not fathom writing down Aysha’s name. Sol reassures her that it is just a game. She feels horrible that she had to vote for two people she cared for, Sol assures her to let it go and just play the game. The man is so cool. Rome is thrilled that Aysha went home and Rome prevailed. Rome thinks that Sol messed up and Rome plans to send Sol home next, using his steal a vote.
-opening credits-
GATA sits at the beach at sunrise listening while Sam raps a song about their tribe. Sierra and Sam continue to work together. Sierra plans to stay away from Sam to appear like she is working with Rachel and Anika. Sam shrugs it off like it is just an asthetic, Ken and Barbie. Anika and Rachel believe that the three women have an alliance called “The Breadwinners”.
TUKU Sue is feeling very emotional, she is tired and crying to her tribe, Gabe assured her that he had a little cry this morning. He really wants Sue to be his ally, because he wants to work with an older woman who will tell him everything. They assure each other that they will tell each other everything. Kyle tells Sue that she should be proud of herself, her grandchildren must be so proud of her. Sue tells them that she is 45 even though she is 58. She tells us that she is an adrenaline junkie always looking for a rush. She secretly spends her time looking for an idol and she finds a beware advantage and activates it, she has no vote until she finds it. It is hung up in a palm tree and she needs to cut it free. She finds the rope and begins chopping it. A melon type container explodes red paint, and she doesn’t know how to hide the mess. She says, “I don’t want to get caught red handed!” I don’t know if she knew what a great pun that was. She is given a full idol, active until there are 5 players left in the game. She desperately tries to hide all the paint, she feels like a murderer with the cops coming. She feels good that she covered it all up. Tiyana and Caroline find her standing at the well, there is red on her face and hand. They think it is blood. She says she is fine, she just cut herself with that machete. Tiyana and CAroline walk away and Tiyana says that she can smell BS a mile away.

LAVO Rome starts hunting for the idol again, he is pretty sure that he is the best idol finder on his tribe. Rome doesn’t like that Sol is looking hard for the idol, he tells Sol that it isn’t smart for him to be looking for the idol. Sol is on to him. Rome tells Kishan and Genevieve that he doesn’t want Sol to find the idol. Kishan likes that the two of them will not work together. He enjoys pitting them against each other. Rome shadows Sol everywhere Sol goes. Teeny finds Rome to be very intense and it doesn’t match her own energy. Genevieve babysits Sol for a while. It’s crazy. As Teeny pointed out, Rome is not treating Sol like a human on this world. Sol offers Genevieve an alliance because they like each other. Genevieve does not dismiss it.
GATA Sierra said that she found Andy’s shot in the dark and dropped it under the bamboo bed. Sam tells Andy to go back to the shelter and get it back. Andy tells Sierra that he found his shot in the dark back. There are several scenes showing him as a clumsy person. Sam calls him the George Costanza of the camp. Sierra tells Andy about the Breadwinners. Andy hugs her and tells her that he loves her. Andy tells everything to Sam that Sierra told him. Sam did not know that yet, he wonders why Sierra didn’t tell him about the Breadwinners. Sam asked Sierra why she hadn’t told him about it, she gets defensive about who came up with the name. Sierra no longer trusts Andy. Sam wants to keep Andy, because he knows that he can control Andy. Sierra doesn’t like that they are bickering and bumping heads already.

The next competition is on land. Tribes see that Aysha was voted out. Rome stands cocky, strong and lucky in the centre of his tribe, nodding at everyone with a big smug smile on his face. Roll a heavy metal cube, retrieve bags. Create a frame, throw sandbags through the frame, if they knock frame over, must rebuild it before they can continue. Dig for a key, do a survivor puzzle. First tribe wins three egg laying hens. Second tribe wins 6 eggs from those hens. Third tribe wins a date to tribal council and loses their flint. No sit outs today, tribes are even.
TUKU is behind, the other teams are neck in neck, retrieving bags. Sol, Kyle and Sam will empty the bags to find the sand bags and the pieces needed to build the frame. Kyle finishes first and starts tossing the sand bags. Misses. Sol lands 2 bags in a row. Sam and Kyle land one each. Sam lands the next one then Kyle does too. Every one works to gather the sand bags to their platform. LAVO finishes first. Very soon all three tribes are done and digging LAVO, then GATA then TUKU gets their keys. LAVO is through first, then TUKU, then GATA. This is a very close competition.
Caroline and Gabe, Rome and Genevieve, Rachel and Anika do the puzzle. Is Rome even trying? GATA wins first place. I think Rome isn’t even trying, not one piece has been placed. TUKU wins second place.
I think Rome lost on purpose, planning to steal Sol’s vote and get him out. I hope, since Rome has no immunity yet, that the team all votes Rome, and Rome is the only one who votes twice for Sol.
There is a journey. The winning tribe chose the three who go. Andy, Teeny and Caroline. I wish they had taken Rome, so the tribe could plot.
Jeff asks them why the puzzle went so poorly, Rome talks about how embarassed he is about it, with a grin on his face. Genevieve does not like the way they lost.
Jeff does a commercial to apply to be on Survivor. He is sitting by the puzzle Rome failed to start, and places a piece first try. “Ah, it looks so easy on TV, think you could do better? Apply to be on Survivor!”

GATA is happy to see that the chickens have already laid an egg. Sam wants to just eat them, Sierra would rather keep getting meals out of them. A chicken is loose. Sam runs to catch it. He really wants to eat it.
LAVO returns to camp. Kishan says that they are not good at those types of puzzles. I don’t think Rome threw it, I think he is genuinely disappointed to have failed. Rome tells them they all know the plan. Rome will use his steal a vote only if Sol seems to be ready to use his shot in the dark. Kishan suggests they tell Sol it will be Genevieve. Rome would rather keep his steal a vote for use in the future. Rome gives Sol the ultimatum: Give me your shot in the dark or I will use the steal a vote on Sol. Otherwise he will use it on Genevieve and vote her out. Sol is irritated by him and can’t believe that Rome is threatening him. Kishan says that Rome plays with chaos. Kishan plots with Genevieve against Rome. Not sure if Genevieve is into that. Kishan tells Sol about it too, even if Teeny loses her vote and Rome steals a vote, it will be 2 votes Rome and 2 votes Sol, on a revote they all vote Rome. Will it work?

The journey: Andy, Teeny and Caroline chat a bit, then read the note. Caroline tells the that there was a bro alliance on her tribe at first, but it has shifted. Andy tells them that he is a social outcast on his tribe. Teeny tells the truth about Sol and Rome and suggests that it will be one of them tonight.
If one of them agrees to lose their next tribal challenge then all three will gain an advantage. If they can’t agree on who loses the vote, then they all lose their vote and nobody gets an advantage. Andy will not volunteer, Teeny has a tribal tonight and doesn’t want to lost her vote, then she agrees to lose her vote. She sees that she is going to lose her vote either way, so she wants to at least get an advantage. It is three amulets that will only be good when all the players all together. It’s the same deal as last season, they have to agree to use it together, or against each other. It’s hard to explain with me only half way watching it unfold. I’ll try to clear it up a little better later on, when I watch the show a second time at our Survivor Supper on Friday.
OK, I’m rewatching the Journey, and here is what their note said: “Your willingness to work together has earned you the Amulet idol. Your amulets have no power until all the players in the game are living together on the same beach. In order for the idol to have power all Amulets in the game must be played together at Tribal Council to protect the same person. So if there are three Amulets in the game, all three must be used together. If there are only two Amulets in the game, both must be used together. If there is only one Amulet in the game, that Amulet has the power of a full idol.”
This reminds me of a similar deal that happened a while back. The three players were offered to choose between either delicious looking sandwiches or this shared idol thing. One guy was really hungry and begged the others that they could eat, but they wanted the advantage and wouldn’t let him eat. He went along with them, but held a cute little grudge about them not letting him have his sandwich and he made sure that both of them were voted out before him so that he could have full use of the one remaining idol. I wonder what will happen this year?

Returning to their camps, Caroline tells about the amulet. No one greets Teeny, she finds them and tells them she lost her vote. Andy tells about the amulet. Kishan and Genevieve tell Teeny their plan, and Genevieve nods like she agrees. They told Sol. Teeny talks to Sol, she likes him and is hopeful this will work. Rome tells Genevieve, Genevieve doesn’t like that Kishan threw her name out there. She will probably change her mind about what to do. I can only hope that Rome will say something that changes everyones mind. Rome is hurt when Genevieve tells him that Kishan is after Rome. Rome comes up with a new plan to steal Kishan’s vote and put his two votes on Sol. Yeah, so many different scenarios unfolding right now. I can’t keep up. Rome apologizes to Sol. Teeny and Rome sit about 10 feet behind Genevieve and Sol as everyone discusses stuff.

Tribal Council. Jeff tells Rome that he has never seen anything like today, not even getting one piece placed of the puzzle. Jeff was surprised that he never moved, he sat in front of the puzzle in the same position the whole time. Sol describes to Jeff what happened at camp, what the threats were. Rome cuts in with justifying his plan. Sol said he didn’t appreciate the threat. Rome called it an ultamatum. Rome apologizes again, describes what he did wrong. Seems genuine. Players speak carefully to try to urge each other to keep to the plan, without giving anything away. Sol says that if Rome doesn’t steal his vote, Sol will play the shot in the dark. Rome says he trusts who he trusts, and if he doesn’t trust you, he is “going to do everything I can to get you out of the game.” Rome gives his steal a vote to Jeff and says that he will steal Kishan’s vote. Kishan pouts at Rome. Genevieve is the key person. Rome is thinking hard about what to do with his two votes. Voting will be Sol, Genevieve and Rome twice, but Sol might play his shot in the dark.
Kishan, Kishan, Kishan…only three votes are read, no shot in the dark seems to have been played. Kishan whispers the Genevieve that he “trusted us three.”
I am glad that Sol did not get voted out, I really like him and I want to see more of him. Teeny looks at Genevieve, and Genevieve shrugs and whispers that she will tell her later.

- Genevieve: Kishan
- Rome: Kishan
- Rome: Kishan
- Sol: Kishan
Kishan’s final words summarize that he was blindsided, has no regrets, and that’s what makes it fun.
Thanks, Joy for setting this up. I’ve missed Jackie’s Big Brother updates! I followed her in the early BB days and aol!
Hi Bren, Thank you for popping in! I’m glad you did. Sometimes others from Jackie’s page pop in too. She really built a great community there, and we will all miss her. I watched big brother this summer too, and am looking forward to the finale tonight, but unfortunately i didn’t have time to write it up like I do with Survivor.
A day late… again.
I still haven’t watched the episode, so I plan to read your update and catch the show over the weekend. There’s just too many shows I watch that are conflicting times!!!
Hi Sharon K. Nash, I’m so glad you come visit to catch up on the show. I hope you’ll get to watch it with us at some point, it’s nice to see how the people look, how they move, their inflections in the voices when they talk…I can’t express that in my notes. Do you ever get to watch Survivor later on in the week, on a streaming service? In Canada I can stream episodes for free from the broadcaster website (Global TV) for almost a week after it airs. No commercials either, which is awesome!
Wow, your notes are almost right to the second. Very impressive. I really don’t see any breakaway winners at this point, do you?
Hi Mike, welcome back! It’s nice to have you visiting again. Breakaway winners, well the players that stand out to me for their calm and reasoned approach to the game are Sol, Genevieve and Teeny. They are all on the same tribe right now, and Teeny is currently at the bottom, but still, she has this awareness about her that could take her far if she sticks around. Rome has boundless energy and is lucky…he might go far if he doesn’t irritate too many tribemates at the wrong time. Andys play is cleaning up a little since his meltdown in the first episode, but he is a little too trusting of the people he feels aligned with. Sam and Sierra might go far, but they are shiny-type people and might be seen as a threat and voted out earlier than they expect. Gabe is very good at controlling his “little lost birds” so as long as Sue continues to disbelieve Kyle when he warns her about Gabe, Gabe will go far — but if Sue ever realises that Kyle is telling her the truth about Gabe, then Gabe will be in trouble. I look forward to watching it all unfold.
